Baby Milestones: Month 11
Baby’s Development
By the end of the month your baby should be able to:*
- Say “ma-ma” and “da-da” discriminately
- Understand “no”
- Clap hands
- Wave bye-bye
*All babies are different and reach milestones on their own developmental timelines. If your baby has not reached one of the developmental items, so rest assured that he or she should be able to do so shortly.
Activities
Take Me!
Consider creating a reminder of the first year by creating a mold of your baby’s feet or hands. Clay molding kits may be purchased at your local Wal-Mart or hobby store. Also, many paint-your-own-pottery establishments can provide this service to you. It’s easy, fun, and you’ll have a great memento for the future or gift for the grandparents.
One Small Step for Baby Kind
Every step your baby makes is training for walking on his or her own. Right now your baby is likely stepping around while holding on to furniture. However, sometime soon he or she will let go and take a first step. In the meantime, give your baby lots of encouragement. Standing, stepping, and balancing are all tough skills to master. And now your baby has to coordinate all three. This also means he needs lots of supervision, too.

twins is 1 in 9.
- Once you've had fraternal twins, you are 3 to 4 times more likely to have another
set!
